Introduction of Runway AI
Runway is both a company and an AI tool (or an online video editing and production website) launched by the company.
Runway was founded in 2018 and is headquartered in New York, USA, focusing on the field of image and video editing. The company has launched a variety of artificial intelligence tools for individual and enterprise users, and its products include RunwayML.
This Runway Tool has a very complete online video processing technology. Currently, it has developed more than 30 AI magic tools. Some of them incorporate built-in AI image generation technologies, such as generating images based on text, generating stylized variants based on images, extending and painting images externally, generating 3D texture maps based on text, and lossless zooming of local parts of videos; the other part is video processing functions, such as one-click matting to change the video background, quick image retouching, adding text and dynamic effects through text descriptions, extracting characters and replacing backgrounds, dynamic tracking, intelligent color grading, intelligent slow motion, smooth frame interpolation, and one-click blurring of faces. In addition, it also combines AI technology with audio processing and has developed tools such as automatically generating text transcripts, one-click removal of blank audio, and intelligent removal of background noise.
Its Gen-2 model is a better video generation model in the market, capable of supporting the generation of 4K-resolution videos. Users can generate videos through text and input instructions to import video materials, color grade, and eliminate selected objects in the video.
In April 2023, Runway was selected into the "Forbes AI 50 List 2023: The Most Promising Artificial Intelligence Companies". In June of the same year, the company received a $100 million Series D investment from Google and was valued at $1.5 billion. On November 24th, Runway was selected into the "Fortune" Global AI Innovators 50 List.
